Cadwell BSB: Bridewell bounces back on to the podium

Tyco BMW’s Tommy Bridewell has kept himself firmly in the MCE British Superbike Showdown contention after a fourth and third place finishes at Cadwell Park.

Bridewell bagged that all important podium credit in the final outing after loosing out on the fight for second to RAF Reserves BMW’s Peter Hickman. But the Devizes native did hold off the charges from PBM Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne to snatch third in race two.

He has been up the sharp end all weekend and his team should be receiving some new parts for his S1000RR in time for the next round at Oulton, which he hopes will give him and his team-mate Michael Laverty that added edge to fight for race wins.

“This weekend a fourth and a third is, to be honest, a pretty good result. We’ve had our ups and downs but the team are working really hard and hopefully at Oulton Park we should have some new parts that will cure a few of the issues that both myself and Michael have,” said Bridewell.

“We’ve both been riding really hard and I’m enjoying it but I did hope to be fighting for the podium and race wins more consistently. But that’s no fault of the team because they’re working very hard and I’m sure they’ll get on top of it soon.

“We had good pace at Oulton before but I think that the pace will be a bit faster this time. If we can get these new parts on the bike we should be able to up our pace a little bit too. I’m feeling confident going into Oulton but we have to take it as it comes there.”
