Cadwell BSB: Elliot takes red flagged Stock 1000 win

Morello Kawasaki’s Josh Elliott firmly placed one hand on the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 championship after his fourth win of the year pushed him 22 points clear in the title chase.

The Northern Irishman grabbed the holeshot from the front row of the grid, whilst his championship rival, Alastair Seeley, blew the start from pole position.

However, a red flag on lap two brought about a full restart and Seeley was handed a second opportunity from pole position.

The wee wizard of Carrickfergus this time made it count, grabbing the holeshot in front of Elliott.

It wasn’t long before Elliott moved through into the lead and his aggressive pass allowed Joe Burns to grab second on his Aprilia.

At half race distance, Burns had his rear wheel come round on him and he ended in the gravel trap, causing Seeley to sit up in order to avoid the fallen Geordie.

Elliott’s lead was two seconds and he was comfortably breaking clear before on lap five the red flag was brought out once again and a result confirmed.

Elliott is yet to finish a race outside of the top two and if he can continue that form into the final three rounds, he will be crowned champion, with his championship lead having been extended to a handsome 22 points.

South African Hudson Kennaugh claimed the final podium spot ahead of Luke Quigley and James East.

Mancunian Adam Jenkinson grabbed sixth place, after battling past Josh Wainwright and Dominic Usher.

Jones-Dorling Racing’s Ashley Beech and Able Engineering BMW’s Billy Mellor rounded out the top ten.
