Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran had a 100 per cent podium success rate at his local MCE British Superbike round at Cadwell Park, as he came away with a third and second place finishes this afternoon which secured his 2016 Showdown spot.
It is the first double podium of the season for the Australian native and he currently lies third in the overall standings, and the Fireblade rider felt that he got the most out of his machine, with the help of his Louth based team over the race weekend.
Momentum is key for O’Halloran and he wants to keep up his good form going into the triple header at the next round of Oulton Park. But he has only had one win this season and wants to find something a little bit extra with the bike in order to get his second career BSB victory.
“Double podium, first one of the year, really pleased with it. Happy with our race today and we had two solid strong races. We got the most out of the bike and myself and we have got to be happy with that,” said O’Halloran, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the track.
“Going forward we have got momentum on our side and it is four rounds on the bounce we have been on the podium and we are competitive against the likes of Leon and Shakey and we have got to be pleased with the work that we are doing.
“We have got to try and find something now to get a win or two. We have got a lot of podiums now and we have only got one win. Oulton Park - three races lets see if we can do that there. I feel capable and that I can go further. Every round we find that the setting is getting better so if we can find a little bit more we can be stronger again.”
What has delighted O’Halloran is that he was able to challenge with the likes of Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne and JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam in both races and match their pace out on the Lincolnshire circuit.
After the opening race O’Halloran added: “Fantastic to be back on the podium. I felt that I rode good and about half race distance I felt I was sort of just hanging in the race and felt comfortable.
“But maybe the last four laps the tyre went away and we lost some entry grip but really pleased to be back on the podium, and it is another podium credit and another sixteen points towards the Showdown.”
