Cadwell BSB: First points of the season for Reid

Tyco BMW’s Andy Reid had his best MCE British Superbike weekend to date. On Saturday he made it all the way through to Q3 and started race one from the third row. He then finished inside the points at the Cadwell Park double-header.

The Northern Irishman has only been riding a Superbike for four BSB rounds, and before that had been out of action with an injury. He is pleased with the package from the Tyco team and has gained confidence on the S1000RR.

In race one the rookie finished 13th and it was a case of déjà vu for race two as he came away with the same result in Lincolnshire. Now Reid aims to be in Q3 in every qualifying session, to continue his progression on the BMW.

“The points were good but the qualifying was great going into Q3 and a tenth off the existing lap record from last year and there are riders in this class that have been in it for five years and have never seen Q3. The Tyco BMW guys have built me a great package,” said Reid, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“That’s the ideal plan to be in Q3 and we have progressively got better and better at every round and I have got more confidence. I am learning about the bike and the riders I have been racing against and it is completely different class to the 600’s, and given the time off I have had it is a lot to take in in a short pace of time.”
