Cadwell BSB: Hutchinson cruises to Superstock 1000 win

Tyco BMW’s Ian Hutchinson eased to his second Pirelli National Superstock 1000 win of the year, converting a debut pole position after an early tussle with Taylor Mackenzie.

The Bingley bullet, once he got the better of the championship leader Taylor Mackenzie, was able to post several fastest laps of the race in order to eventually take the chequered flag by over three seconds.

The fight for the final podium places was more closely contested, with Farmer appearing to have secured a comfortable second as they headed into the final laps.

However, it wasn’t to be for the Northern Irishman, with Scotsman Mackenzie finding his second breath. Twenty points for Mackenzie means he now holds a 23 point advantage over Hutchinson, but with only three rounds remaining he is surely the favourite to lift the title.

Farmer had to settle for third place in the end, meaning he’s not fully out of the title picture but has certainly left himself a mountain to climb. The Quay Garage Honda rider is 56 points adrift of Mackenzie.

NEI Motorsport’s Adam Jenkinson managed to get the better of Morello Racing’s Fraser Rogers for fourth place. The dicing duo were followed home by now outgoing champion, Josh Elliott.

A fierce fight for seventh place saw Dominic Usher come out on top, 0.121 of a second clear of Billy Mellor. Rounding out the top ten were Geordie Barry Teasdale and Ashley Beech.
