Luke Mossey’s MCE British Championship title hopes have taken another battering as the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider has been ruled out of this weekend’s Cadwell round on medical grounds.
The Royston rider is recovering from a stable L2 vertebrae fracture sustained in a crash at Thruxton and is not yet sufficiently healed to race in Lincolnshire.
“While his recovery is progressing well, Luke’s specialist medical team has advised him not to race this weekend to allow for further rest, especially given the physical demands of the Lincolnshire circuit,” said a team statement.
“The health and safety of the whole team, not least the riders, is paramount and we respect Luke’s decision not to race. His doctor has confirmed, however, that he will be fit to race at round nine at Silverstone in four weeks’ time.
“While Luke is very upset that he will not be able to compete this weekend, he is optimistic that he can still gain a top six Showdown place, especially with the meeting at Silverstone, a circuit he loves, being a triple-header.”
