Cadwell BSB: ‘My confidence is back’ says Ducati’s Irwin

Be Wiser Ducati’s Glenn Irwin has regained his confidence on the Panigale after completing two ‘tough’ MCE British Superbike races, with results inside the top eleven at the Cadwell Park round.

The Carrickfergus rider is still not completely fit as he is still recovering from dislocating his shoulder and elbow after a huge free practice crash at Knockhill a few months ago. He had to sit out the Snetterton round, but made a return at Brands Hatch.

He is feeling much stronger than at the last BSB event at Thruxton but felt that this was the ‘hardest’ he has ever rode a bike and now he wants to get on the podium at the next round at Silverstone.

“I am 50 percent stronger from Thruxton, it was really tough but the positive is that my confidence is back after today,” said Irwin, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the track.

“In that race I felt I was only losing it out at Mansfield and a little bit at the Mountain and a little bit out of the first chicane and that is three or four tenths and you are not too far off podium pace.

“This is the hardest I have ever rode a bike, we are digging deep and working hard. We have got to chase podiums at Silverstone and we proved we have are not a million miles away.”
