Cadwell BSB: Rain threat no fear for improving Ray

Buildbase Suzuki’s Bradley Ray says he’s ready to come out fighting on Sunday no matter what the British weather throws at him.

As the paddock talk this evening remains largely about how bad the rain expected on Sunday will be, Ray is completely unfazed at the idea of another one of Cadwell Park’s trademark storms.

In this afternoon’s second Bennetts British Superbike Championship free practice session at Cadwell Park, Ray was fifth quickest, 0.962secs adrift of pace setter Jake Dixon.

“We’ve been here for a few tests so we’re pretty familiar with the track at the minute which is nice so we’re just spinning laps and understanding the bike and trying to get a good setup for the two races on Sunday,” he told Bikesport News.

“I got my first Supersport win here, but it’s not my favourite place. For some reason I just seem to sometimes go well around here but on the Superbike it’s a lot different. It’s a tough track but we’ve just got to try and understand it and find the best way.”

But as the weather began to cool off later this afternoon and word began to spread about the impending rain deluge set to hit on race day, Ray shrugged off any concerns.

“There’s all this talk of rain for the races but if it comes then it is what it is. It’s the same for everyone so we’ll just have to whack a wet setting in, spin loads more laps and just understand the bike again. We’re ready for all conditions.”
