Cadwell BSB: Ray ‘back to normal’ as he storms to pole

Poleman Bradley Ray has revealed he and the Buildbase Suzuki team have found what they needed to get their bike back to the front.

Ray scorched to the top spot with just one shot at a hot lap ahead of tomorrow’s opening Bennetts British Superbike race at Cadwell Park.

Yesterday, Ray revealed to Bikesport News he had been getting in as many laps as he possibly could in a bid to return to the form which propelled him into the series lead after the opening round at Donington Park.

And today, after making it look almost easy in qualifying, he admitted things looked to be back to their best.

“We’ve found something in the bike that we should have found earlier,” he said this evening. “Now I feel like the bike is back to normal, back to how we had it at the start of the year.

“Now that we’ve got it to this level, we can just keep working and building on our confidence.”

Currently lying fifth in the standings, Ray says his main objective is to stay in the championship chase, which he believes is more important than just going for an all-out win.

“I need to try and get two solid results tomorrow and stay in the showdown,” he added.

“If you can do a quick lap like that around here, you can race at a good pace over 18 laps so we’ll just see how the race goes tomorrow and try to get some solid points.”
