FAB-Racing’s Brad Ray stormed to a sensational debut Dickies British Supersport win, converting pole position into a faultless lights to flag victory.

The talented teen made a great jump off the line to take the holeshot, meanwhile further down the field, Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Andy Reid crashed out on the opening lap after touching the grass on the exit of Charlies.

Ray didn’t clear off into the distance immediately, however, as Gearlink Kawasaki’s Mason Law dug in and applied pressure. Ray didn’t break under his pressure though, eventually breaking the tow and pulling clear to take the chequered flag.

Law took a lonely second place but despite being lonely, it was his best finish of the year. The leading duo will once again line up first and second come tomorrow’s feature race.

The fight for third was more closely contested, with James Westmoreland, Andrew Irwin and Luke Jones all wanting to take the last spot on the podium.

Westmoreland held it at the halfway stage before running on at the chicane and dropping back to fifth. That left it to between Jones and Irwin.

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Irwin held it with three to go before Jones moved past on the run into Park. Irwin wasn’t going to let Jones sit comfortably, however, as moments later after Jones drifted marginally wide at Mansfield, Irwin came diving through on the inside, heavily colliding with Jones but thankfully the pair stayed on.

It appeared as if Irwin was poised to make a last lap move on Jones but the challenge never came, allowing Jones to take a tight third, his seventh podium of the year.

Westmoreland took fifth place, 1.3 seconds clear of the EHA Racing duo David Allingham and Ross Twyman. Northern Irishman Allingham eventually got the better of Twyman to take seventh.

WD40 Kawasaki’s Tarran Mackenzie recovered from the fifth row to narrowly take ninth ahead of Luke Hedger, but more importantly he kept hold off his championship lead; the Scotsman now just two points clear of Westmoreland.
