Cadwell BSB: Showdown still a possibility for Linfoot

Honda Racing’s Dan Linfoot is at a loss as to why he could not better his two tenth place finishes, during the MCE British Superbike double-header at Cadwell Park. But with his injured team-mate, Jason O’Halloran out of action over the weekend Linfoot was able to leap frog him in the overall standings to go seventh, and just 21 points adrift of Tyco BMW’s Michael Laverty in the championship.

The Northerner has described his weekend at ‘difficult’ and can’t quite put his finger on why he lacked the pace that would have enabled him to fight for podiums and race wins.

Linfoot is feeling frustrated as his team have worked hard on getting his Fireblade up to speed, and with his confidence fully regained after a big off at the Brands Hatch Indy track a few moths ago the rider is perplexed as to why he was struggling over the weekend. But hopes he can turn it around for Oulton Park.

“It has been difficult, I don’t really know why. I am disappointed to come away with two tenth place finishes,” said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“The team don’t deserve it, and I know I can do better. It is frustrating, I don’t really know what to say, I feel bad - I gave it my maximum. I was in a group fighting for sixth place but I couldn’t put myself in a position to overtake. So that’s it - the only positives are is that I finished both races.

“I have moved up to seventh in the overall standings on the back of Jason being inured - but lets see what Oulton Park brings. Anything can happen so lets start again at Oulton and lets go to Oulton fresh and try and sneak a Showdown place.

“I don’t feel to be lacking confidence and the bike has proved capable to win around here a few years ago - I cant put my finger on it. I need to go through things with the team. The class is so strong and everyone is doing similar lap times and it is just incredibly strong this year.”
