Cadwell BSB: Solid points haul for Westmoreland

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Westmoreland had a solid MCE British Superbike weekend at Cadwell Park, and managed to overcome some technical issues with his ZX-10R in the opening race to award his team with a thirteenth and ninth place finishes.

He could not replicate his podium finish that he managed to do at the last round at Thruxton, but he did take away some valuable points. He was the only JG Speedfit rider out on track as he team-mate James Ellison is still recovering from an injury sustained at Thruxton.

Even though a rostrum was to elude the Yorkshireman he’s in a positive mood, and his team managed to turn his bike around so he could fight his way through the field to get inside the top ten in race-two.

“The weekend hasn’t been too bad and we were in the top eight all weekend and we came into the weekend in a positive mood,” said Westmoreland, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the track.

“I really gelled with the bike and I was really optimistic, but in the first race something went wrong because it felt I had square tyres in the bike and I had a lot of chatter and I was lucky not to crash.

“We finished in thirteenth which wasn’t what the team or myself wanted. Race two was much better, as I was in the battle for sixth, but finished in ninth and I felt really good and the bike was fantastic.

“It is easy to get a bit disappointed but the first race was out of our hands, but it is difficult to pass around here and it is hard to make a clean pass. We did the best we could which was ninth but I am feeling strong going into Oulton.”
