Britain’s Cal Crutchlow squeaked to a narrow win over Maverick Vinales to be voted the BSN MotoGP Rider of the Year in 2016.
Vinales took an early lead in the voting but Crutchlow slowly built on his pace and crossed the line with 29.81 per cent of the vote compared to Vinales’ 27.43 per cent.
Valentino Rossi took third place with 19.22 per cent just ahead of 2016 World Champion Marc Marquez on 18.14 per cent. Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Iannone were tied for fourth on 1.73 per cent.
