MCE British Superbike title challenger, Richard Cooper will line up on the starting gird in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 race at the World Superbike round at Donington Park, for a one-off ride onboard the Derby Alloys BMW S1000RR.
The rider will be running out of the Buildbase BMW truck, alongside his team-mate Taylor Mackenzie, who will be looking for another win this season. Cooper’s S1000RR that he will compete on at
Donington is his practice bike that he uses throughout the year for testing, and it is also British Superstock spec, which means he can do one-off rides too.
Even though he will be working with his Buildbase team, his bike will have different livery to that of Mackenzie’s due to a different personal sponsor. Cooper is relishing the challenge of competing in the Stock 1000 class, but will be riding under number seven and not his usual 47.
“I’m looking forward to riding the Derby Alloys Superstock bike this weekend. I’ve ridden the BMW Superstock bike quite a lot this year and it’s a really good package which is clear to see as it’s dominating the championship at the minute with my team and Taylor Mackenzie,” Cooper told bikesportnews.com.
“I’ll still be working with my Buildbase BMW team, just with less pressure and in different colours. Of course I want to get a good result for my personal sponsor but also I have to remember it’s not my championship and it’s only a one-off ride. I’ll be riding under number seven this weekend as my normal number 47 is already taken, so keep an eye out for me.”
