Donington BSB: 'Bad end to the weekend' for Showdown rider Ellison

JG Speedfit Kawasaki's James Ellison secured the hole-shot in both MCE British Superbike races, but he experienced a problem with the tyre in the final outing and struggled to keep the pace. He subsequently failed to make it on the podium during the double-header at Donington Park.

The Showdown contender is naturally disappointed has he felt strong all weekend, but lost out to fellow title challenger, Honda Racing's Jason O'Halloran in race one to cross the finishing line in fourth, which was bitter sweet as Ellison was in contention for a rostrum finish.

In the final race the Cumbrian fell off the pace to seventh, after what was a stellar start on his ZX-10R. The JG Speedfit rider lies fourth in the standings, 58 points off the new series leader, Be Wiser Ducati's Shane Byrne.

“All weekend we’ve  had really strong pace and have been running at the front and we even led both races. Unfortunately in that final race we had a problem with our tyre around lap six and I just couldn’t turn or keep the pace," said Ellison.

"It’s really  disappointing if I’m honest, I felt really strong and thought we could definitely have been fighting for the podium. It was a bad end to the weekend, and although some of the other Showdown guys had difficult races we shouldn’t be finishing in seventh.”
