Donington BSB: 'Braking issues' blight title fighter Mossey

Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey experienced ‘brake issues’ with his ZX-10R during the opening MCE British Superbike race at Donington Park, and after only three laps retired to the garage and was unable to bag some valuable points.

In the second race he finished in eighth and decided to run with the SC1 tyre on the front and rear of his Kawasaki, and the harder options definitely got stronger towards the end of the twenty-lapper.

Mossey stated that he ‘was not happy’ with his results that he achieved at the Leicestershire track as he only took away eight points from the double-header. Now the new dad is on a total of 514 points going into the penultimate round at Assen.

“I was looking forward to race one and getting involved with everything. I had a bad start and as I was on the SC1, the harder compound tyre, it was hard to keep in the running. I knew I just needed to settle down and work hard,” said Mossey after the first race.

“I got passed [Michael] Laverty and then went to brake. I pulled the lever back but there was nothing there, I had no brakes but luckily there is run off at Donington and I didn’t crash out. I was forced to pull into the pit lane and retire from the race.”

After race two Mossey explained: “I dropped a long way back on the grid for race two and certainly knew that I would have my work cut out, especially running the SC1 – they become stronger
towards the end of the race as the softer tyres start to go off. I pushed hard but I wasn’t happy with the result I achieved. It wasn’t a good weekend at the office as far as the races and results are concerned.”
