Donington BSB: Byrne among the crashers in delayed wet warm up

SHANE Byrne was among the fallers as today’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship action finally got underway at Donington Park.

After a morning of delays, the track finally went live this afternoon with warm-up, but it soon became a bit of a crash-fest as the riders struggled to find their feet on the wet track.

Gino Rea was the first man down as he tipped off his OMG Racing Suzuki, and he was followed down the road a few moments later as Frenchman Sylvain Barrier dropped his Smiths BMW.

Taz Mackenzie was the next to fall, closely followed by Be Wiser Ducati’s Byrne, who had left it late in the session to head out.

The last rider to fall was Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon, who crashed at the Melbourne Hairpin after the flag. After landing heavily, he got up but looked a little winded, and returned to the paddock in a medical vehicle.
