Donington BSB: Grid penalty for Mackenzie after Oulton crash

Buildbase BMW’s Taylor Mackenzie will start from the third row of the grid for the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 race at Donington Park.

He has been penalised six grid places after a crash involving Tyco BMW’s Ian Hutchinson, during the last round at Oulton Park after the case went to appeal.

Initially Mackenzie was given two points on his licence, until Tyco BMW appealed the decision. Now the pair will line up next to each other on the grid with Mackenzie now in eighth and Hutchinson in seventh respectively.

Mackenzie leads the championship by 23 points, and did initially qualify on the front row in P2. But now he has been allocated to eighth on the starting grid, for this afternoon’s race.
