Donington BSB: Haslam struck by more grip woes

Leon Haslam has admitted he is content with his points haul this weekend, despite continuing to battle with the grip issues that plagued him in race one.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider fought back from a third-row grid spot in this afternoon’s Bennetts British Superbike scrap to depose Dan Linfoot of a runner-up finish.

But the same problems that Haslam experienced in yesterday’s race, which limited him to a ninth-place finish, struck again today.

“We had a major issue in race one and I had the same problems in that race,” he said. “I was over a second off and slower than I’d done all weekend with the same bike, tyres and everything.

“We weren’t quite sure what that was so we put it down to conditions, tyres, something like that. And I made it hard work starting from row three.

“I tried to catch Brad, but fair play to him as he’s doing really good. Like Dan said it was one of those weekends where you didn’t want to throw away the championship in the first round.

“But I did give it all I had in that race, and I’m happy with the two positions that I got.”
