Donington BSB: Linfoot focuses on weight distribution

Honda Racing’s Factory Dan Linfoot will continue to work on weight distribution in tomorrow’s third MCE British Superbike free practice session at Donington Park tomorrow and says he is happy with his pace on both the soft and hard compound Pirellis.

The Harrogate rider has been pushing the Fireblade’s balance more towards the front end as settings which worked at Spain’s Monteblanco circuit don’t suit the characteristics of Donington so well.

“We went in one direction in Spain to find grip and here it isn’t working so well. The tracks have a different character so we are going back to what the guys know is a proven setup. I am happy with that,” said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“We are looking at bike balance. We had the bike with a rear bias to look for more grip but here it is taking too much weight off the front and it’s been tough down Craner, so we put some more weight on the front.

“I’ve been around a few other bikes today, our speed is good. We only had one tyre per session, trying an SC0 in the second one and it was still good at the end. The way the Honda delivers its power means it isn’t hard on the tyre, so I think it could be a race option but it’s too early to say.”
