Donington BSB: Ray wins again to keep Supersport title dream alive

FAB-Racing’s Bradley Ray picked up his fourth Dickies British Supersport win in five races to keep his chances of becoming champion alive and kicking.

After a frantic opening couple of laps that saw the championship leader James Westmoreland dumped onto the grass as he exited Goddards by the Gearlink Kawasaki duo of Mason Law and Andrew Irwin, Ray managed to grab the advantage and pull clear.

Westmoreland was forced to defend his slender three point title advantage from down in ninth after his off track excursion, but after posting fastest lap after fastest lap, the experienced rider came home in a respectable fourth; incredibly rolling around the outside of David Allingham at the final corner to salvage a further two points.

Meanwhile, at the front of the race Ray cruised across the line two seconds clear of the now championship leader Tarran Mackenzie, who held off the close attention of third place man Mason Law on the last lap to hold a four point lead going into tomorrow.

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Andrew Irwin came through in a lonely sixth place, before Acumen Triumph’s Luke Jones rolled to the chequered flag in an even lonelier seventh.

Appleyard Macadam’s Luke Hedger was forced to battle hard for his eventual eighth place, with Joe Collier and Sam Coventry narrowly missing out on winning the fight and being forced to settle for ninth and tenth.
