MV Agusta’s Leon Camier took another big step forward with his WorldSBK race package at Donington Park, bagging a brace of sixth places after again having to come back from a ‘disaster’ Friday.

The former BSB champion made it through to qualifying two by right but had to rely on his free practice one time after problems with the bike saw him unable to improve his pace. Camier was able to keep fast and consistent, and was able to draw comparisons with Chaz Davies when the workd Ducati man passed him in race two.

“Two sixth places for us is always a good result. When Chaz came past after a few dramas, it was good to be able to see where we are losing compared to people who can win races. It’s a little bit everywhere and a lot in some obvious places. We know what we need to work on to make that happen,” said Camier, speaking at the track.

“Whether it can happen is a different thing, there are things out of my control. Step-by-step we made some good progress given the amount of time we had on track this weekend as Friday was a complete disaster. In the short time, we made some good changes and came up with a slightly better package for the race but it still wasn’t enough to live with Alex.

“It was a lot closer, in all fairness, he was just in front of me but I couldn’t do anything to catch him but considering where we were on Saturday, it was a big step forward. I’m happy and happy with the work the team has done. Fingers crossed we can have less problems for the rest of the year.”
