Donington WSBK: Race distance ‘a long haul’ for Haslam

Red Devils Aprilia rider Leon Haslam believes he is in for a long haul with his injured ribs in tomorrow’s two World Superbike races at Donington as he hasn’t yet done a long run.

Both outings tomorrow will be run over 23 laps and the most consecutive laps Haslam has done is six, so it will a step into the unknown when the lights go out at the Derby man’s home circuit where he starts from the top of row two after Superpole.

“I’m pretty happy. We had a few issues and I didn’t get the perfect lap on the qualifier which we have done at a few rounds this year but we are making good progress for race distance on used tyres,” said Haslam, speaking to bikepsportnews.com

“For sure they are going to be long races with my ribs. I am going to have to wait and see, I have only done five or six laps in a row so far this weekend and 23 is going to be a long haul but we are on top of it with strapping and painkillers.

"We want to be on the podium, but I really want to be on that top step. We will try a few changes in morning warm-up to test a few bits. We are pretty good where we are right now but there’s always room for improvement.”
