Donington WSBK: 'Sykes there to be hunted,’ says Ducati's Davies

Aruba Ducati’s Chaz Davies goes into this weekend’s Donington Park World Superbike round believing he can hunt down the Kawasaki of Tom Sykes and stop him from winning eight straight races in a row at the Leicestershire circuit.

As Davies celebrated his dominance of the Italian round on Ducati’s home turf, he was confident he had the package to win anywhere, and now the Presteigne rider goes to Donington Park with more wins on his mind. Sykes has take victory in the last six races there, so can Davies stop the Huddersfield man at their home race?

“It’s difficult to know. We went into Imola thinking the same about Jonathan, knowing he was the reference and going home with the double and not only that, but leading every session,” Davies told bikesportnews.com from his Spanish home.

“You just never know until you turn up to the circuit. Tom’s track record at Donington is pretty special. He has always had not just a little bit of a buffer there but always won quite comfortably there - he has nearly made it look easy every time. He is there to be hunted.

“We need to look after ourselves and see where we end up. What we can do is keep working on my bike with the improvements we have had so far this year. A lot of the stuff that has worked well this year should work at Donington in terms of gearbox ratios and the way the chassis is now. I am feeling optimistic.”
