Ellison ‘working hard’ to make Cadwell BSB return

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Ellison is trying everything he knows in order to be as fit as possible for the upcoming Cadwell Park MCE British Superbike round but knows that it is going to be a long shot.

The Kendal native broke his wrist at Thruxton after crashing on Richard Cooper’s oil in race one but is undertaking myriad treatments to try and be fit enough to ride at the Lincolnshire circuit in a couple of weeks.

“Right now I am doing everything I can to get back for the next race. It’s a really long shot but I have to give it my best until the day of the race and if by that point I’m still not ready then so be it. I’m currently undergoing daily sessions in the hyperbaric chamber in leicester as this has proven to work in the past. I have an Exogen Ultrasound machine to help speed up bone healing by 38 per cent and will be seeing physios everyday until I'm fit to ride,” said Ellison.

“When Coop’s engine blew right in front of me as we approached Church corner flat out in fifth gear, what felt like his entire sump covered me and my bike instantly, leaving me with a completely black visor and no way of knowing where I was on track. My first instinct was to apply a little front brake and turn a bit to the right to avoid the oil while I reached for my visor to lift it. The only problem was my entire bike was covered in oil including both tyres so as soon as I put the slightest bit of angle to it, the rear came round and highsided me while the bike continued into the tyre wall where it literally snapped in half.

“As i hit the ground for the first time I felt immense pressure in my left wrist - I still couldn’t see anything at this point - so I knew I wasn’t getting away unscathed, I continued to slide and bounce across the tarmac, then on to the ultra-rutted grass until I came to an abrupt stop. Thinking there may be a few more bikes heading down after me I jumped straight up and ran behind the barriers.

“I have already received a humbling amount of support and well wishes from my fans and Twitter/Facebook followers so I’d just like to say a huge thank you to you all, it really does make a huge difference.”
