Following rumour and speculation in recent weeks, the Cookstown and District Motor Cycle Club can confirm Guy Martin will compete in next month’s KDM Hire Cookstown 100, which takes place on April 28-29.
The 35 year old racer, equally as famous for his TV appearances, will compete in both the Open and Cookstown 100 feature races on board the all new SP2 Honda Fireblade in Superstock trim.
Having taken a year out of racing, Martin now has to compete in six competitive events in order to race at the Isle of Man TT.
“I suppose getting paid, means I have to work for it now,” he said.
Martin’s entry for the Cookstown 100 is a real shot in the arm for Irish road racing, where organising clubs are facing extra financial hardship, due to escalating insurance costs.
