Hamilton targets North West 200 Supertwins victory

Ireland’s Jamie Hamilton is targeting victory in the Supertwins class at this year’s Vauxhall North West 200 after grabbing a narrow podium at Cookstown last weekend.

The Ballyclare man finished third in the twins class in 2013 and fourth last season but he is determined to up his game for 2015.

“If I come away from the North West with podium finishes in the two Supertwins races I would go home satisfied but I will really only be happy if I can win one of them,” sad the Burrows Engineering rider.

The twins event was the closest race at last weekend’s Cookstown 100, with Hamilton squeezing out James Cowton to take the last podium place behind Michael Sweeney and race winner, Michael Dunlop on the McAdoo Kawasaki. 0.75 second covered the quartet as they fought a race long battle that saw all four dip below the class lap record for the Co. Tyrone circuit.

“Those guys plus Ryan Farquhar, Jeremy McWilliams, Christian Elkin, James Hillier and newcomer Glenn Irwin will all be contenders at Portrush,” Hamilton recognises.
