Haslam 'excited' to test out new Aprilia engine

Red Devils Roma Aprilia’s newest recruit Leon Haslam is travelling to Spain next week to test the RSV4. What he is most excited about is trying out the new Aprilia engine, and working with his new team.

Haslam leaves the comfort of the Pata Honda team to join the official factory entry for 2015 at Aprilia and already has podium's and race wins as his next target. He has had a tough couple of years which has been blighted by injury, and the Smalley rider is now seeing next year as a fresh start.

“I’m so excited to start testing in Spain next week and I cant wait or the championship to start. Next year is not clear cut as some of the rules are changing and we are not sure where the bike is going to lie competitively, but to jump on a bike that has just won the championship is great too, and I want to get back to winning ways," said Haslam, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“It's a new engine for the team and they have taken over the factory status so there are a lot of things I will have to get used to with the bike and set-up, and it is a whole new team too with the staff. It is a long time that I was on that podium consistently and that is what I want and my aim for 2015. I wanted to stay with Honda my whole career but I was sad to leave but I look forward to fighting for the podium, and to be at the front again.”
