Hickman wins BSN Roads and Overall Rider of the Year 2018

Peter Hickman easily had his best year in racing over the course of last season with a Bennetts British Superbike Showdown spot, Senior TT victory, Superstock TT victory and the outright lap record to boot.

It is no surprise then that he won the Roads Rider of the Year category but the Lincoolnshire man also held off a challenge from four-time WorldSBK Champion Jonathan Rea to take the Overall Rider of the Year gong too.

Hickman bagged 32.60 per cent of the votes compared to Rea’s 17.53 per cent. WorldSSP Champion Ana Carrasco took third place 12.73 per cent with Leon Haslam in fourth on 10.91 per cent. Fifth went to MotoGP Champion Marc Marquez with 6.49 per cent.

Double Irish Road Champion Derek McGee was fourth on 6.57 per cent while Michael Dunlop was fifth with 5.87 per cent.
