Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness believes the Norton package he has signed to ride in 2018 is capable of winning, echoing the thoughts of team-mate Josh Brookes who said earlier in the week it was good enough for a podium.
McGuinness will join Brookes on the Isle of Man in a strong line-up this year after being replaced at Honda by Ian Hutchinson and the Morecambe resident says he still has the heart to push for victory.
"It goes without saying I want to win, I don't see any reason why we can't win. I have watched the Norton and it seems a really competitive package," said McGuinness.
"Josh got the bike round at 130mph and he missed the TT for a couple of years, so there is no reason why we can't run right at the front. It's a new challenge, a new chapter. It feels a little bit strange. I rode for Honda for a long, long time but the passion is still there, the heart is pumping away, the head's in gear, I'm focused."
