Irwin returns but it’s ‘damage limitation’ at Brands BSB

Be Wiser Ducati’s Glenn Irwin will return to action at this weekend’s Brands Hatch MCE British Superbike round but warns that it is a damage limitation exercise.

The Carrickfergus rider has been undergoing intensive treatment on his injured arm and shoulder but intends to ride at the Kent track in order to keep a Showdown place in sight. Irwin is 30 points behind Peter Hickman in sixth place.

“I'm just out of yet another hyperbaric chamber session and I must thank the Simon Andrews Foundation for their assistance in my recovery. As a result of this intensive treatment, this weekend now looks very promising although I will do as little as possible until it really counts on Saturday afternoon. It will be a case of damage limitation to some extent but I have worked my butt off to have a chance of riding competitively and that's my goal,” said Irwin.
