Jerez WSBK test: Camier to focus on engine and electronics

Britain’s Leon Camier spent the first day of World Superbike testing at Jerez working out small problems and getting a clutch setting to improve starts but says tomorrow the MV Agusta will put in a new-spec engine and work on electronics.

The former British Superbike Champion didn’t manage to make much headway on day one of the test but believes that they can work on various strategies tomorrow. But he warned he didn’t expect to see a big drop in laptimes.

“It’s been a day of fixing problems to be honest. We spent some time working on the clutch settings to get the starts better, which we think we have managed but we so many things to think about, everything seemed to not go to plan. We have a new tank but we had no time to work with that today. It’s been a case of getting everything to run smoothly, we didn’t make much progress,” said Camier, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“Hopefully we can make some more progress tomorrow, trying to get it to feel like it should. We will put in a new engine and focus on the electronics, in particular throttle connection, plus throttle bodies and torque maps to try and get the power down off the slow corners. We aren’t going to make a lot of difference in lap times I don’t think.”
