Jerez WSBK: ’Sky-high confidence’ gives Davies the double

Welshman Chaz Davies is riding on the crest of a confidence wave in the World Superbike Championship and has now won five out of the last six dry races after his double at Jerez.

The Aruba Ducati man dominated in Spain this weekend, winning race one by three second and race two by six, after lapping almost a second quicker than the Kawasaki’s mid-race.

“Job done. I thought today was going to be closer but it was the other way around. The temperature went up and it only needs a couple of degrees for the track to change from grippy to slippery,” Davies told BSN at Jerez.

“The pace today was slower. The fastest lap was quick but the pace was down. It seemed to be enough, I was moving around, losing the front, losing the rear on the first touch of gas but it is pretty dialled.

“We found a good setting at the end of Friday which allowed me to find the grip a lot earlier. I was still breaking traction but finding the edge and then the drive grip came much sooner, so thanks to my suspension guy Luca. He worked some magic.

“The thing is working, my confidence is sky-high, I feel like I am not really doing anything different but the bike allows me to ride at 100 per cent in every corner, every lap. I am out there losing the front and rear like everyone else but I am just dancing on it.”
