Jerez WSBK: Summer break proved decisive for Davies

Aruba Ducati’s Chaz Davies has revealed that work done by the factory in the eight-week World Superbike summer break enabled them to get back the feeling he needs from his Panigale.

Davies was dominant in race one today at Jerez as front-end geometry changes have put the bike back in the sweet spot he needs to win and he also said he is able to brake as he needs to.

“We have put the bike back in the sweet spot. I won races and was generally competitive a the end of last year and we expected to start the year like that but for one reason or another, something was missing,” said Davies, speaking at Jerez.

“It has taken a few changes, mostly with geometry, and here we are again with the feeling that I want. From early in the season, I wasn’t particularly happy. At Aragon, Imola we did the double but at races like Assen, Donington where I was missing a bit of what I wanted.

“We were improving in some parts of the weekend but it wasn’t what I wanted. We had an eight-week summer break and that was the chance to study data and the boys did that. They had meetings and were able to give me back the braking feel that I want.

“They did that and we came out swinging. We haven’t had any upgrades, we have just got the bike as I need it.”
