Kent has first chance to lift Moto3 crown at Motegi

Britain’s Danny Kent has his first chance at being crowned Moto3 World Champion at the Motegi MotoGP round this weekend but it rests more on the fate of second-placed man Enea Bastianini than Kent himself.

If the Leopard Honda man can leave Motegi with a 75-point lead over Bastianini, he will be be king. This can be achieved by Kent winning and Bastianini finishing 11th or lower or Kent finishing second and Bastianini failing to score.

It was in Motegi during the 2012 Moto3 season that Kent claimed his first every grand prix victory. Since then he has not finished on the podium at the Japanese circuit, ending the 2014 race in sixth after a dramatic final lap. Both Miguel Oliveira and Romano Fenati remain in the title hunt, but are 75 and 79 points behind Kent respectively.
