Kiyo hoping for change of fortune at Knockhill

Buildbase BMW’s Ryuichi Kiyonari goes into this weekend’s Knockhill MCE British Superbike round hoping for a change of fortune at the track where his challenge for the 2014 title began.

The Japanese star took his first victory since 2011 at the Scottish circuit last year and he ran Shane Byrne all the way to the final round only for a broken collarbone to call a halt to his charge.

So far this year, Kiyonari has shown he has the pace to run with the likes of Byrne and Josh Brookes but some technical issues and a crash or two have prevented the results from appearing.

“I have happy memories of Knockhill from last season where I took my first win since 2011. After that I won quite a few races and fought for the championship so hopefully we can do something similar this year. The first four rounds have been difficult, I always want to improve each time but it hasn’t happened yet. I want to win for the team, as my machine is very good,” he said.
