Knockhill BSB: Mackenzie claims contentious Stock 1000 win

Buildbase BMW’s Taylor Mackenzie eased his way to a fourth Pirelli National Superstock 1000 win, however, it wasn’t without controversy.

Whilst battling for the lead with Tyco BMW’s Josh Elliott, Mackenzie drifted around the outside of Elliott but appeared to ride across the front end of the reigning champion, which resulted in him standing the bike up and running into the gravel trap.

After the race, Mackenzie stated that Elliott took the lead from him under a yellow flag but in a war of words, Elliott responded by claiming Mackenzie’s move was aggressive and unfair, and that he made his move for the lead once they were past the waved yellows.

As a result of running into the gravel trap, Elliott rejoined in thirteenth and battled back through to finish in seventh, whereas Mackenzie at the front cleared off, eventually taking the chequered flag three seconds clear.

Quay Garage Honda’s Keith Farmer battled past Tyco BMW’s Ian Hutchinson on the final lap to take second. Farmer was sat behind Hutchinson for the majority of the race and left it until The Hairpin to dive under the inside and pick up his second podium of the year.

Bathams BMW’s Michael Rutter eased home in fourth place, ahead of Fraser Rogers who got the better of Barry Teasdale to take fifth place.

Elliott ended seventh, before Jones-Dorling Racing’s Ashley Beech came across the line in eighth. Rounding out the top ten were Dean Hipwell and Leon Jeacock.
