Knockhill BSB: More team experience benefits Buchan

Danny Buchan says that more time with the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki squad has helped him lead today’s Superbike proceedings north of the border.

The former two-time National Superstock champ admits more seat time on both his practice and race bikes has paid dividends, and allowed him to set the fastest-ever two-wheeled lap of Knockhill this afternoon as he led FP2, just a few thousandths clear of Jake Dixon.

While he’s had a steady start to 2018 and sits seventh on points with Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran after two fifths at Snetterton, Buchan says his season has been slowly ramping up.

“We’re just building momentum, the more time we get on the bike the better we get,” he said. “The guys here in the team now know and understand me a bit more.

“To be honest [today] came pretty easily. We did a test here on my practice bike which was just to blow the cobwebs off, and that was really positive and we came straight here on the race bike and were fastest straight away.

“We’ll see what we can do come race day, but it’s nice to end day one at the sharp end.”
