Knockhill BSB: Solid points keep O'Halloran in contention

Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran remains in Showdown contention after two top five finishes at the MCE British Superbike round at Knockhill.

The Australian remained consistently on the pace and is feeling confident onboard his Fireblade, especially off the back of his maiden double podium at the last round at Snetterton. He ended race one in fifth and hung on in the final outing to cross the finishing line in the same position once again.

The Honda man is fifth in the standings just behind JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Ellison, and the racer is looking forward to fighting for rostrums at the sixth round of the series at the Brands Hatch GP circuit.

“It’s been a pretty good weekend here at Knockhill, I qualified in fourth and the first race I finished fifth. In the race I hung with the leading group and learnt a lot from them, and also where we needed to improve for race two,” said O’Halloran.

“For the second race we made a few small tweaks to the Fireblade and I felt a lot more confident, but starting from the third row made it difficult to come through the pack.

“The race was restarted due to the rain, and for the restart I didn’t have great feeling, but after the first two-laps I managed to pick up my pace and put in some fast laps and nearly matched my qualifying time, having a good fight to get back to fifth. I’m looking forward to Brands now, which is a circuit I feel a lot more confident at.”
