Knockhill BSB: Race weekend stats, facts and pub ammo

Josh Brookes has never won a race at Knockhill – along with Brands Indy, these are the only two circuits currently on the BSB calendar that he hasn’t won at.

Michael Laverty’s first ever BSB podium came at Knockhill, back in 2005.

James Ellison has only been on the Knockhill podium twice, once in 2008 and again in 2016.

Pole position last year was taken in wet conditions by Shane Byrne in a time of 51.374s.

The fastest lap of the weekend was set in Free Practice 2 by Michael Laverty at 48.009s.

The current lap record, set in 2015, is held by Shane Byrne at 48.252s.

Leon Haslam will make his 150th BSB start in the second race at Knockhill.

Peter Hickman will make his 250th BSB start in the second race at Knockhill.

Dan Linfoot was the only rider to finish on the podium in both races in 2016.

Jake Dixon made his BSB debut at last year’s meeting.

John Hopkins finished fourth in race one of 2016, one of only three top four finishes he took all year.

Shane Byrne has done the double at Knockhill on three occasions – 2003, 2013 and 2015.

The double has been done eight more times, the riders being Niall Mackenzie (1996 and 1998), Chris Walker (2000), John Reynolds (2001), Ryuichi Kiyonari (2005), Jonathan Rea (2007), Leon Camier (2009) and Tommy Hill (2011).

Shane Byrne has taken the most wins at Knockhill with 11 followed by Niall Mackenzie (5), Ryuichi Kiyonari (4), John Reynolds (3) and Leon Haslam, Tommy Hill, Leon Camier, Jonathan Rea and Chris Walker (all 2).

Byrne also has the most podiums (16) followed by Kiyonari (10), Josh Brookes, Steve Hislop, Michael Rutter, Reynolds and Walker (all 7) and Haslam, Mackenzie and Sean Emmett (all 6).

Knockhill hosted round four of the inaugural Pro-Am Championship on June 28th, 1981. The race was won by Kim Barker from Alex Bedford and eventual champion Pete Wild whilst Niall Mackenzie finished fifth.
