Knockhill BSB: Three crashes over race weekend for Linfoot

Honda Racing’s Dan Linfoot only amassed a total of four points during the fifth round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Knockhill, after having three crashes over the weekend, including one in the opening race.

The Northerner is naturally feeling ‘disappointed’ after what has been a difficult season for the Honda man. He broke his wrist at the second round of Brands Hatch, and made his return at Snetterton. He is now fighting fit, but felt his crashes during FP2, warm-up and race one have been ‘damaging’ to his title ambitions. But he did finish race two in twelfth.

Getting into the Showdown is the aim for Linfoot, but he is eighth overall, two spots away from a spot inside the top six. But he’s feeling confident that he can get some good results at the next round, and was fortunately unhurt in the crashes at the Scottish track.

I am disappointed with the points I’m taking away from this weekend, three crashes in one weekend is damaging not only for the races but also trying to get back in the Showdown, so I’m disappointed for that,” said Linfoot.

“I gave 100% this weekend and qualifying went well and I was in a good position for the races. I crashed in warm-up and also in the first race, I’m not too sure why, but it’s a blow to come away with a few points after 12th in the second race.

“But Brands is next, so time to focus and regroup and hopefully I’ll have a better weekend there. I love the GP circuit; so I’m confident we can produce some solid results there.”
