Knockhill BSB: Westmoreland fastest in Supersport practice

Came BPT Yamaha’s James Westmoreland and Joe Francis made it a practice 1-2 for the team after the duo finished on top at the end of Dickies British Supersport second practice at Knockhill.

Westmoreland ended the day in first position courtesy of a 49.840 lap with team-mate Francis less than half a second down with his own 50.255.

Stauff Connect Academy’s Tarran Mackenzie had to settle for third back on home soil for the Scot, a respectable third considering the top seven were separated by less than a second.

Series leader Andy Reid could only manage sixth on the Quattro Plant Kawasaki, behind One Call Insurance’s Joe Collier and Matthew Paulo of Newman Racing.

Lee Johnston, fresh from competing at the Isle of Man TT, made an impressive return to short circuit action in Scotland as he took his East Coast Racing Triumph to seventh.

FAB Racing’s Bradley Ray, EHA Racing’s David Allingham and Gearlink Kawasaki’s Luke Hedger were the final riders completing the top ten on the first day of Supersport action at Knockhill.

In the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 class Taylor Mackenzie once again reaffirmed his position as the man to beat as he edged out Tyco BMW’s Ian Hutchinson by 0.020 to claim top spot in qualifying, with Bathams SMT’s Michael Rutter a close third.
