Laguna WorldSBK: Camier looking for consistency in hot temperatures

Red Bull Honda’s Leon Camier found a laptime using one of the Pirelli rear tyres in free practice yesterday and made it into WorldSBK qualifying two but is now looking for consistent pace, especially in higher temperatures.

Camier eventually finished Friday in eighth after a slow start in the first session and is six-tenths behind Jonathan Rea but there is only three-tenths covering the Kent rider up to Marco Melandri in second.

“It took a little bit of time to find our way. There was something we were struggling with for a while and we sort of understood it in the afternoon but there are quite a few things to work on,” said Camier, speaking at the track.

“We will try and get the bike working better in a few areas but for sure we had a tyre this afternoon that allowed us to go a fair chunk faster but now we have to do it consistently.

“Warmer is not necessarily a good thing for us, but we will see. We’ve got to make a big plan as to what we can change for some more consistent laptimes. We’ve got the direction to go quicker but the race will be pretty difficult. It’s always a hard track this.”
