Laverty expecting ‘vintage’ BSB season in 2015

Tyco BMW’s Michael Laverty is expecting a vintage MCE British Superbike season in 2015 but is aware the level of competition will make it very tough to come out on top.

The Presteigne resident, who will test his new S1000RR for the first time at Cartagena next month, not only has team-mate Tommy Bridewell to contend with but also Shane Byrne, Ryuichi Kiyonari and Josh Brookes, to name but three of the near-40 strong grid.

"I am feeling pretty confident ahead of the season, obviously you don't know for sure what you or the bike are capable of until you get your leg over it, but all the signs are really very promising,” said Laverty.

“The bike is a real bit of kit and the team have done a great job of converting it for Superbike, so the potential is definitely there, we just need to get it dialled in and get up to speed on track.

"I am looking forward to the season. It is going to be a heck of a tough season, with so many strong riders on strong equipment, but it promises to be a vintage season - I can't wait to get rolling. Once testing is under our belt we will know where we stack up, but I am feeling really positive ahead of the season."
