Lowes to benefit from upgrades at Jerez MotoGP test

Britain’s Sam Lowes will benefit from a raft of upgrades to his works Aprilia at next week’s Jerez MotoGP test which will bring it into line with the bikes Stefan Bradl and Alvaro Bautista raced at season finale.

Lowes took part in the opening day of testing at the Spanish track using the newest chassis but had a different engine specification. At Jerez, he will be brought up to the very latest evolution in readiness for three days’ of track times and will catch up on the time he lost after a crash brought his test to an early close at Valencia.

“At Valencia I only had one bike. It was close to the latest bike, Eugene had one and Aleix, and next week I will have more of the latest stuff. It will be good to ride at Jerez having not done three days on a Moto2 bike. I think that had we put a new tyre in at the end, we would have improved laptime quite a lot,” said Lowes.

“I am quite happy and relaxed, Aleix has shown the bike has good potential. Compared to the first bike I rode, it has improved a lot. The chassis was the same but the engine was quite different, we have found positive things. The bike will be there, so I just need some more riding time.”
