Michael Dunlop wins the Armoy Race Of Legends

Michael Dunlop retained his Race of Legends title for a fifth year in a row at the Armoy Road Races today. He brought his own BMW home 2.4 seconds in front Tyco BMW mounted Guy Martin and Dean Harrison on the Mar-Train Yamaha R1.

Earlier in the day Martin was the victor in the Open race crossing the line 2.3 seconds in front of his team mate William Dunlop. Derek Sheils was third and Michael Dunlop fourth.

William Dunlop took win number two of the weekend in the Supersport 600 race following on from yesterdays showing yet again his domination in the class on his CD Racing Yamaha, Martin was second and Harrison third.

Sam Wilson managed to hold off Michael Dunlop to take the win in the 250 race, this was Dunlops first outing on a two stroke for a number of years, fellow local man Paul Robinson filled the final step on the podium.

Ryan Farquhar won the supertwin race beating Derek McGee by I a second and Farquhars ex team mate Conor Behan third

Paul Jordan had his second victory in a row in the 125 race taking the flag in front of 250 winner Wilson and Nigel Moore third.

The day’s racing was marred by a serious accident during the Supersport 400cc race, the rider was air lifted to Belfast by helicopter. The nature and extent of the injuries sustained by the rider following the crash are not yet known.
