Dave Stewart, race director of the Thundersport GB motorcycle racing group, which held a two day race meeting at Donington Park on 11-12 April 2015 has today issued this statement:

“It is with great regret that I must confirm reports of the passing of Michael McKenzie after an accident at Donington Park on Sunday 12th April.

“The incident occurred at the Craner Curves section on the 8th lap of the Stock Twins race, shortly before midday. Immediate trackside assistance was implemented from the specialist trauma team and Michael was transferred to Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. Sadly Michael succumbed to his injuries late in the afternoon of Sunday.

‘The thoughts of everyone at Thundersport GB and at Donington Park at this difficult time are with Michael’s wife Lucy, daughter Annabelle and his entire family.”
