Mossey tops the timesheets on day two at Cartagena

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey has set the fastest time on day two of MCE British Superbike testing at Cartagena, putting in a 1’33.0 this morning to better the quickest yesterday - set by James Ellison - by two-tenths.Mossey, who is a big fan of the Spanish circuit, took advantage of cooler track conditions to set the lap and was three-tenths faster than team-mate Leon Haslam, whose 1’33.4 was a tenth slower than Ellison managed this morning on the McAMS Yamaha.

Haslam has spent today working on fuelling maps as he tries to soften the aggressive nature of the new ZX-10RR’s power delivery.

Moto Rapido Ducati’s John Hopkins put in four 1’33s laps with a best of 1’33.6 while evaluating the 2017-spec Ohlins forks. The American will try a new swingarm tomorrow which help with mid-corner edge grip.

Michael Laverty, on the second McAMS bike, has been eliminating a chatter issue while also working on a more comfortable riding position and engine brake strategies. He didn’t better his 1’33.6 from yesterday but was still in the high 1’33s this morning.

Tyco BMW’s Davide Giugliano put in a 1’34.7 to trail team-mate Christian Iddon by half a second.
