MotoGP Aragon: Marquez destroyed my race and my foot – Lorenzo

Jorge Lorenzo has placed the blame firmly on race winner Marc Marquez door after crashing out on the first corner of todays Aragon MotoGP.

The Spaniard who qualified on pole position found himself flying through the air after highsiding out on the first corner of the race after Marquez’ aggressive start. The crash left Lorenzo with a dislocated big toe on his right foot and the Spaniard wasn’t happy with his 2019 teammate after the race.

“From the outside, looks like I enter too fast, I leant too much and I entered too wide in the dirty part, that's why I crashed,” said the factory Ducati man.

“From what I lived and what I experienced, I took in the normal line, entered the corner as I did in the seven last years here in Aragon. But I watched Marc go into the inside very aggressive, not making the corner because you saw where he finished, in the green.

“When he saw that I was there, he tried not to let me pass into the corner, and I didn't have any options, so I had to go to the dirty part, because we were very wide and already the other riders were coming.

“If I didn't want to lose five or six positions, I had to open the throttle. In Misano the crash was completely my fault, this time Marc destroyed my race, destroyed my foot, destroyed the possibility that I have to win and probably also my Thailand race.”

Whilst visibly upset still from the crash, Lorenzo said he was even more annoyed that nobody was blaming Marquez for the crash.

“Marc knows,” he said. “He didn't leave me space, he make me another block pass, like in the past in some races. I didn't have any options than crash.”
