MotoGP Aragon: Moto2 third for Lowes in Spain

Britain’s Sam Lowes took his first Moto2 podium since the Assen MotoGP round in Spain this afternoon, bagging third place and moving back to fourth in the championship stakes as he followed Tito Rabat and Alex Rins across the line in a re-started 14-lapper.

Lowes parked himself in third into turn one behind the two Spaniards and had Jonas Folder for company but he shook off the Team AGR rider with nine laps to go and opened up a two-second gap as the laps counted down. His 16 points took him ahead of Thomas Luthi in the championship standings as the Swiss finished fifth.

Rabat took the win by less than a tenth of a second after the pair diced for the entire race. Rins bided his time untol the gfinal laps and passed Rabat halfway around the Marc VDS man was straight back in front. Rins then looked up the inside of Rabat into the fast last corner but just didn’t have the grip to beat him to the line.
